Profile of your organization/department
The Reading League North Carolina, a nonprofit organization, launched in June 2023. The chapter’s mission is to advance the awareness, understanding, and use of evidence-aligned reading instruction across North Carolina, by creating a community of statewide stakeholders invested in ensuring all children receive equitable literacy instruction. We focus on furthering our mission through outreach, educational events, and collaboration with a goal of reaching all parts of our state to impact literacy instruction for all students.

Description of the project
Website Enhancements: Our organization would benefit from a website upgrade. We are seeking support in developing upgraded website content that tells a compelling story, explains our mission’s story, provides clear calls to action for website visitors, shares educational resources and invites visitors to connect with us.
Project scope
Work with the chapter president to develop website content for each of the sections after evaluating current public content.
1. Draft website content for each of the following purposes: content that tells a compelling story, explains our mission’s story, provides clear calls to action for website visitors,
shares educational resources and invites visitors to connect with us.
2. Develop visuals (if applicable) that can be added to the website using Canva and other branding tools.
3. Edit the website using WordPress tools within our template.
Preferred student demographic and qualifications
● Students that understand marketing content or social media strategies.
● Students that have experience with Canva.
● Students with website editing experience (not required).
Hours required for completion
Up to 40 hours.
Describe how the student will benefit from participation (learning experience)
A student working on this project will develop skills that benefit any organization or business for any field. All industries are seeking candidates who understand how to message a company’s brand. In addition, students will learn how to work with tools that support their personal branding as they seek future opportunities. Lastly, a student working on this project will work directly with the leader of a statewide nonprofit organization.
Outline the expected outcomes
The expected outcomes of this project is to develop website content, visuals and edits that our nonprofit organization can use upon completion.
