OVERVIEW:
The Campus Activities Board (CAB), supported by the Center for Student Involvement within Student Engagement, is the largest student programming/event planning organization on campus and is responsible for planning diverse, quality events for the university community. CAB was founded early on in the history of UNC Charlotte and maintains a vital role in fostering 49er spirit and traditions such as Gold Rush and Homecoming. The purpose of the Campus Activities Board are: To promote the interests of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and its students; to bring about a greater spirit of unity and cooperation among all students; to encourage in students the development of leadership skills through active participation in campus activities and its management; to provide UNC Charlotte and the community of Charlotte with the best possible events and to retain its position as a respected contributor to the establishment and maintenance of a higher educational, recreational, social and cultural standard for the University community.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement (Campus Activities Board), is a 10-month, part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week). This role advises members of the CAB Executive Board, Program Coordinators, & Event Staff, and provides day-to-day support for the planning and implementation of all programs. This position also oversees event assessment and social media marketing efforts for CAB, in addition to coordinating student leader training and assisting with department-wide initiatives and programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL
- Advise student coordinators and assist in the development of event programming in the committee(s) that are assigned
- Develop and manage forms used for event programming and evaluation, including data collection
- Generate assessment reports of information collected to share with students and the organization
- Coordinate retreat for CAB members focused on leadership development and group dynamics
- Responsible for creating and submitting the end-of-year report containing attendance numbers for all CAB programs
- Assist with the planning and execution of several large-scale events, retreats, and banquets (i.e. Haunted Union, End of Year Banquet, Fall & Spring Retreats, etc.)
- Manage CAB’s NinerEngage page through event creation and uploading of marketing materials
- Utilize NinerEngage/+ platforms to engage with student body (i.e. coordinating giveaways, event communication, post-event assessment surveys, etc.)
- Oversee marketing distribution efforts in conjunction with the student marketing team.
- Assist with training student coordinators on event staff management, program proposals, and budget management
- Support departmental programs and initiatives (i.e. Student Org Showcase, Late Night Breakfast, Homecoming, The Golden Summit, etc) as needed
- Collaborate with campus partners and student organizations requesting co-sponsored programs
- The Graduate Assistant is expected to maintain 20 hours per week between programs and office work. Hours are flexible with frequent nights and occasional weekends. The schedule of office/program hours will be determined within the first week of classes each semester and any changes to office hours should be discussed with the Assistant Director for Student Involvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current UNC Charlotte graduate student in good standing
- Maintain a 3.0 Cumulative GPA
- Enrolled in at least six credit hours in a degree-earning graduate program at UNC Charlotte
- Experience in working with various social media sites preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft and Google applications
- Enthusiastic, creative, collaborative, and flexible
- Strong oral and written communication skills

- $14,625.00 (Fall and Spring Academic Year)

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: Academic Year Appointment
This graduate assistantship is a nine-month contract. Specific appointment dates will be determined upon the successful selection of a candidate.
Per requirements from the Graduate School, Graduate Assistants cannot hold multiple Assistantships.
