Job Description

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Continuing Education Registrar, the Continuing Education Centers Registration and Support Technician is responsible for the central information and reception area of the Continuing Education Center Office. The Registration and Support Technician serves as the initial contact for all questions concerning continuing education classes and programs and assists the public and staff with functions related to Continuing Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as the first point of contact for CE visitors and students and provides excellent customer service to all college stakeholders, displaying courteous behavior, determining the nature of business, and directing visitors to the appropriate personnel and location
  • Provide administrative support and assistance to internal and external customers through walk-in, telephone, and email correspondents as quickly and cordially as possible for the Continuing Education Division
  • Receive, sort and distribute all incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • Provides general office support within the division
  • Provides backup for the Lead Accounts Receivable Cashier
  • Maintains space utilization requests and reporting
  • Monitors, orders and maintains office supplies for the division and processes equipment orders
  • Assists with tracking and maintaining class visit documentation to ensure compliance
  • Receives payments by cash, check, credit cards and sponsorships and updates student accounts accordingly
  • Assists with registration and data entry
  • Maintains cash fund drawer
  • Assists with monthly payroll processing
  • Assists with electronic record storage

Related Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Accounts Receivable Specialist/Cashier, Bookstore, local businesses, and others within the College
  • Complies with all current policies, procedures and requirements of the Cashiers office
  • Monitors the fax machine
  • Validates receipts and routes copies for deposit preparation and registration confirmation
  • Assists students with class selection and placement
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned
  • Ensure all student records are confidential and fully comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

  • Proficiency in computer knowledge and skills required
  • Accuracy in producing professional documents
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, innovation, collaboration and institutional commitment in all actions
  • Ability to work in a congenial and professional manner with a diverse faculty, staff, student body, and general public

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Extensive customer service experience is required
  • Work experience in a college-level environment
  • Colleague experience preferred
  • Some payroll experience preferred
  • Associates Degree is preferred; a diploma or equivalent with some college or experience is required
Additional Information

Surroundings/Environment: Shared office environment, usually indoors away from the elements

Physical Effort: The work is sedentary in nature although includes periods of moving about the office or between buildings and locations. Work may require sitting forextended periods viewing a computer; and will require occasional movement of up to 25 pounds.

Scheduling: This is a full-time position with office hours, Monday through Friday; 8:00 am -4:30 pm. Must have the flexibility to work some evening hours as needed.

Travel: Local travel is required, including between campus locations.
