Job Description

UNC Charlotte University Recreation is seeking individuals who have experience teaching swim lessons to all ages and currently hold a Lifeguard certification. This individual should feel comfortable teaching group, private and semi-private lessons and should have previous experience in creating lesson plans. They should be comfortable working with participants of all ages. They will have a general knowledge of pool policies and will aid in creating a positive and welcoming environment in the UREC pool.

Responsibilities:

Teach kids, teens, college students and adults how to swim
Scheduling Semi-Private and Private swim lessons
Be familiar with Swim Lesson curriculum
Cover all materials required in a level
Communication with parents, participants and the Assistant Director of Aquatics/Risk Management
Positive representation of self, department, division, and university


Required Skills:

All instructors must go through UREC swim lesson training
Previous Swim Instructor experience is preferred
Basic strokes (freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly)
Knowledge of safety water skills
An understanding of facility rules, policies and procedures


Qualifications and Certifications:

Current Full-time UNC Charlotte Student
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED certification
WSI certification is preferred, but not required
