The Challenge
We are hiring an entry-level Utility Engineer to join our Raleigh Utilities team.  

In this role, you will

  • Provide entry-level engineering work in the independent application of professional techniques and standards to moderately difficult transportation, design, or analysis engineering projects.
  • Assist senior engineers on major or complex projects.
  • Provide engineering support and decisions on projects assigned to the region.
  • Manage our schedule of utilities relocations in conjunction with our Utilities Coordinator.
  • Support senior engineers in project design, reviews, and development of project data.
  • Ensure engineering coordination, management, and review of projects with in-house and Private Engineering Firm (PEF) staff for in-house projects.

  What You Bring

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic engineering concepts, practices, and theories.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare or review basic- to moderately-complex technical plans for completeness, compatibility, and compliance with engineering principles.
  • Computer skills in engineering software such as MicroStation, and Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
  • Demonstrated ability to present detailed technical information, guidelines, and standards to seek compliance and/or approval.
  • Demonstrated ability to review the work of others using CADD workstations, computers, and calculators.

  Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in engineering; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

  Note

  • We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
