GA: Advisor Training & Development

This role will assist the Senior Associate Director for Career Education & Advisor Development in exploring professional development opportunities and community building events, assist in creating training modules for Academic Advisors with partners across campus, and updating monthly newsletters.  The GA can expect to gain hands-on experience working with individuals, doing research and exploration, and assisting with team projects.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

Research:

Explore development and training opportunities
Research faculty and staff partners for future collaborations

Faculty/Staff Communication:

Assist in the development of monthly faculty and staff newsletters

Data Exploration:

Gather data as it related to faculty/staff engagement

Event Planning:

Collaborate with the Senior Associate Director and Program Manager in their semesterly events
Participate and support events: organization, set up, management, clean up

Website Updates:

Assist in website development for faculty and staff in order to provide easily accessible resources 
Consider website design, layout, content, and user experience of website

1:1 Service to Students: 

Provide career coaching services to undergraduate/graduate students and alumni: major/career exploration, resume/cover letter/portfolio development, job and internship search strategies, job shadowing, networking, and interview practice via video chat, in person, phone, and email

Conduct weekly drop-in hours for career coaching topics

Programs/Presentations: 

Conduct evening and daytime presentations on core career development topics such as resume creation, interviewing strategies, online career branding, etc. to classes and clubs/organizations of up to 200 people 

Create and/or update presentations, tailoring them to the audience

Assist in the development and implementation of other major events from the office
