Job Description
Disability:IN North Carolina (DI-NC) is a non-profit organization with a unique mission to advance disability inclusion and employment by focusing on supporting the businesses that hire qualified employees with disabilities. DI-NC drives disability inclusion by bringing together business leaders to share best practices, drive cultural transformation, network, and offer high quality programming to members across North Carolina. Founded in 2012, DI-NC is one of 16 independently operated, self- sustaining non- profit membership organizations that are affiliates of Disability:IN (DI), international.
The Internship
The Marketing and Development Internship provides an opportunity to learn how to develop and assist with the execution of marketing strategies for DI-NC's signature events, programs and projects. Students will be engaged in strategies to enhance DI-NC's membership and engagement from NC businesses. DI-NC is a small non-profit with a statewide mission. Students will learn how to leverage limited resources for maximum outcomes. Student's with previous experience and knowledge with developing, managing and leveraging social media are encouraged to apply. Students will have direct interaction with the Operations Director to partner on real world projects with immediate impact.
Learning Experience
Students will gain the following benefits through this learning experience:
How to create and manage new ways to connect with our existing membership
Partner with DI-NC to recruit new members and supporters via social media and traditional marketing strategies
Participate in at least one of our signature trianing and/or consulting events
Partner with DI-NC on the development of a grant to expand disability awareness
Partner with DI-NC on the development of a campaign to train Charlotte-Mecklenburg library staff about disability inclusion
Outcomes
Expected Outcomes:
Hands on experience with development and execution of DI-NC's event planning, membership recruitment and program planning
Learn how to network with NC businesses that support DI-NC's mission
Learn how to manage projects on a small budget with limited staff
Work directly with DI-NC Leadership throughout the internship
