We have Gold Rush and I Am A First-Gen Niner programs to assist students in finding their people and their community as they transition to and through their time here.
The Project
This project aims to help capture the mission of Transition and Belonging (TB). TB is looking for a student who aims to refine their digital and written marketing and photography skills. In the past, due to staffing, TB has been unable to fully capture pictures, moments, videos at our major programming events. TB is working towards expanding our social media presence (Instagram, 49er Family Hub, Niner Engage) and showcasing our programming. The goal is to capture the impact of our programming and market it accordingly to different audiences.

2. Social Media & Marketing - student will learn how to leverage social media to promote upcoming events and utilize social media to tell TB’s story. Student will monitor our social media accounts’ growth and perform data analysis. This data analysis will be added/included to their resume/portfolio.
3. Photography - student will explore different camera functions and settings to best capture active events and can utilize any photos/content captured in their portfolio.
4. Collaboration - student will work with the TB team to learn what specific pictures will need to be taken and what the expectations for the social media are. Student will work closely with TB’s Program Assistants to execute social media vision and marketing strategies. The student will be invited to attend a team meeting leading up to their role beginning.
5. Customer Service - student will learn how to interact and engage with different audiences to enrich their experience with TB events and capture photos at events.
Outcomes
Following this student’s work experience with TB, TB’s social media and online presence will grow, allowing more students to connect with the office and its services. Families of First-Gen Niners will also be more aware of the opportunities available for their student(s). Students will have a positive view and understanding of TB’s programming and be more inclined to engage with the office. Additionally, the team will be able to focus on executing programming, as the student will assist in capturing moments at events. The student’s impact will help lead the way for the TB team to learn how to expand on social media and tell the story that are TB events.
