Graphic Design Intern - Part-Time, Onsite
Date of Internship: Fall 2027
Job Summary: GM Performance Power Units is seeking a part-time intern to lead the design and development of an annual team yearbook. This role will capture the people, experiences, and culture that make the organization unique through photography, design, storytelling, and employee engagement. The intern will work closely with employees and departments across the organization to gather content, coordinate photos, and develop page layouts. The ideal candidate will be creative, organized, and excited to take ownership of a project from initial conception through final production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the yearbook project from initial concept and planning through final production.
- Develop the overall creative direction, theme, visual style, and page layout for the yearbook.
- Create and maintain a project timeline to ensure key milestones and production deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with teams and departments to gather employee information, photos, stories, highlights, and accomplishments.
- Schedule and conduct employee and team photo sessions as needed.
- Capture candid photos at company events, activities, meetings, and other organizational moments.
- Design yearbook pages while maintaining consistent typography, color, and visual style that is aligned with GMPPU brand standards.
- Write and edit short captions, employee features, team highlights, and other yearbook content.
- Organize and manage a large library of photos, graphics, and other digital assets.
- Review content for accuracy, consistency, spelling, grammar, and image quality.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review drafts and incorporate feedback.
- Coordinate with printing or production partners to prepare final files and ensure production requirements are met.
- Present yearbook concepts and progress updates to project stakeholders.
- Assist with the distribution and launch of the completed yearbook.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, Marketing, Advertising, Fine Arts, or related field.
- Basic experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign.
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint and other Microsoft 365 applications.
- Strong creativity and visual communication skills.
- Understanding of basic design principles, including typography, color, composition, and layout.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move in diverse operational environments, including race shops, arenas, and commercial facilities.
- Comfortable working in variable environmental conditions, including loud, high-traffic, or high-pressure environments.
