Job Overview & Responsibilities

As a Civil Engineering Intern at United Launch Alliance, you'll gain hands-on experience and will have the opportunity to:

• Work directly with Engineers, Technicians and Contractors at the launch site on new and/or existing projects.
• Candidate will need to have a strong work ethic and the ability to make progress independently. Typical projects include:
  • Large Structure modifications/improvements/repairs
  • Planning/designing new infrastructure to address personal safety
  • Permitting
  • Erosion repair/mitigation
• Support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing operations, and have work collaborating with peers on larger efforts.
• Work a project to completion that impacts launch operations and can make a lasting improvement and valuable impact.
• This role is at the launch site (Cape Canaveral or VSFB) in the launch operations group, embedded with the Engineering & Infrastructure department.

Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the ULA community and with fellow interns!

Required Education

• At minimum, completed Sophomore year of college or university by the time of the summer internship assignment.
• High School/GED

Basic Qualifications

• Must have a minimum college GPA of 2.90 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application; cumulative, no rounding. NOTE: An unofficial transcript is required if you are invited for an interview. We recommend you upload it to your profile when you apply. 

• Must have a valid driver’s license and motorized vehicle transportation if assigned an internship in Alabama; California; Florida; or Pueblo, Colorado. For Denver, Colorado and Washington, DC, motorized transportation is recommended. 

Role Specific Qualifications

• At minimum, actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university. 

• Must have plans to be enrolled in classes during Fall Semester 2024.  

• Ability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer of 2024. 

• Working knowledge of basic engineering application tools. 

• Proficient with CAD software (AutoCAD preferred).

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint). 

• Effective presentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills. 

• Must be able to complete an internship at any of the below ULA's locations: 

  • Cape Canaveral, FL 

  • Vandenberg, CA  

Summary Salary Range:

CO: $23.60  - $34.70  

CA: $24.80  - $36.30  

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.

Additionally, most salaried ULA team members work a "9/80 schedule," meaning they enjoy every other Friday off.
