About the Program
Delta's Meteorology Internship Program provides hands-on, real-world experience for students pursuing careers in meteorology or related fields. Interns will gain industry exposure, work on impactful projects, and develop professional skills through training and mentorship from Delta's team of experienced meteorologists.
What You'll Do
Interns will contribute to meaningful work that supports the continuous improvement of the Meteorology department. Responsibilities include:

Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting meteorological data

Assisting with the development of tools, scripts, or web-based applications

Creating and updating training materials

Supporting various operational and research-focused projects

Observing and learning from Delta meteorologists as they produce operational forecasts and weather products (approximately 15% of the internship)
Location: Atlanta, GA (Delta Operations & Customer Center)
Duration: Summer 2026
Type: Full-Time, Paid Internship
Housing Stipend: Available for eligible candidates residing outside the Atlanta area
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
We're looking for motivated, curious, and detail-oriented students with a passion for meteorology and aviation. Candidates must:

Be enrolled in an accredited atmospheric science, meteorology, or related degree program

Have completed a Dynamic Meteorology course

Demonstrate proficiency with meteorological observational data, numerical weather prediction, and data analytics

Have experience with basic programming (Python, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, or similar)

Communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats

Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with all levels of the organization
