Gig: VAPA Accounting Internship

The Project
We’re looking for a part-time Accounting Intern to help our non-profit organization take a fresh look at our current accounting setup and make it more streamlined, clear, and professional. This is a hands-on, project-based role where you’ll get to dig into how things are currently done, suggest improvements, and help build tools the team can actually use. If you like figuring out how systems work (and how to make them better), this could be a great fit. What You’ll Do: -Review and analyze our current accounting processes, including A/P, A/R, and general financial workflows -Help organize and refine our chart of accounts for better clarity and reporting -Assist in preparing and improving financial statements and internal reports -Create clean, user-friendly templates for monthly and quarterly financial reporting -Support basic accounting tasks like cash receipts, petty cash, and recordkeeping as needed -Work with different departments (including tenant rental operations) to understand how financial data flows across the organization. -Mentor leadership in the Accounting operation logistics.

Outcomes
VAPA would like to have a professional bookkeeping system in place that will prepare the non-profit organization to meet the demands of yearly auditing requirments, professional reporting statments for donors and grantors and prepare it for sustainable growth projections to continue to keep apace with the community demands for it's services and/or expand to additional satellite locations.
