TRAFFIC ENGINEERING INTERN

The Traffic Engineering Intern supports the Traffic & Transportation Department in evaluating and improving traffic operations and safety throughout the Town. This position provides hands-on experience in data collection, analysis, and project coordination while working under the supervision of a professional engineer.

The intern will gain exposure to real-world transportation projects, including traffic studies, signal systems, and safety initiatives. This role is ideal for students looking to apply classroom knowledge in a practical municipal setting while developing technical, analytical, and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform traffic data collection activities such as traffic volume counts, speed studies, pedestrian counts, and traffic signal inventories under the supervision of an engineer.
• Assist in preparing project exhibits, maps, and supporting documentation.
• Attend and participate in engineering meetings, public meetings, and training sessions.
• Collaborate with the Traffic & Transportation staff on ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Support general engineering and administrative tasks as assigned.
