Role Overview

We are seeking a collaborative, curious, and mission-oriented Junior Salesforce Technical Specialist to join our small but growing IT team. This role will focus primarily on Salesforce’s nonprofit solutions and Slack, helping us improve visibility, efficiency, and collaboration across the organization.

While Salesforce and Slack are the core platforms, the role also supports the broader technology ecosystem common in a nonprofit environment, including finance and accounting systems, marketing and social media tools, inventory-related processes, and occasional end-user hardware support. As part of a three to four-person IT team, flexibility, responsiveness, and a willingness to pitch in are essential.

In this role, you will partner closely with staff, leadership, and external partners to translate real-world needs into practical, well-designed technology solutions that support Purple Heart Homes’ mission.

Key Responsibilities

Salesforce & Slack Platform Management

  • Handle day-to-day responsibilities around the administration of Salesforce, such as user management, reporting and dashboards, data imports/exports, release management, security, and data integrity/quality
  • Assist with designing, configuring, and enhancing solutions within Salesforce nonprofit solutions to improve operational transparency, reporting, and efficiency
  • Support and expand the use of Slack as a collaboration platform, including channels, workflows, use of AI, integrations, and usage best practices
  • Assist with the ongoing rollout and adoption of new Salesforce and Slack functionality

Business Partnership & Discovery

  • Collaborate with IT teammates, staff, and business leaders to conduct discovery sessions and workshops to surface new business process opportunities
  • Translate business challenges and goals into clear, scalable Salesforce-based solutions
  • Serve as a trusted partner to functional teams by balancing technical best practices with practical nonprofit realities

Training, Change Enablement & Support

  • Develop and deliver engaging training sessions, documentation, and demonstrations
  • Help staff adopt new tools and ways of working with confidence and empathy
  • Provide day-to-day Salesforce, Slack, and adjacent technologies support as well as serve as the first line of defense for a variety of technical needs, including triaging internal customer support tickets

Strategy & Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively research platform capabilities, nonprofit technology trends, and emerging features that may be incorporated into the current environment
  • Contribute to broader IT initiatives involving finance, accounting, marketing tools, inventory processes, and end-user technology as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience in a technology, operations, or systems-related role
  • Experience working collaboratively as part of a team to solve business and technical problems
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, value-driven solutions for staff, leadership, and external partners
  • Comfortable working in a small-team environment where priorities can shift, and hands-on problem-solving is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Is a military Veteran, a transitioning service member, or a spouse
  • Salesforce Administrator experience or hands-on Salesforce configuration experience
  • Familiarity with Agentforce Nonprofit / Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud and/or Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, mission-driven organization, or with government/defense-related stakeholders
  • Familiarity with financial and accounting systems and how they integrate with Salesforce is a plus
  • Experience using or supporting Slack in an organizational setting
  • High-level understanding of AI concepts, particularly as they relate to Salesforce and Slack
  • Experience administering technology tools such as Google Workspace. Okta, integration tools
  • Ability to execute on multiple initiatives while remaining collaborative, adaptable, and empathetic
