Summer Quality Intern

Eaton Kings Mountain is looking for a Summer Quality Intern. This position is based at an integral site for Eaton’s transmission value stream in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Relocation assistance is not available.

The expected hourly wage for this role is $25.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for any incentive programs.

What you’ll do:

Within Eaton Kings Mountain, this intern will support the quality team.

• Analyze and support reduction of non-nettable inventory by identifying root causes (e.g., excess, obsolete, damaged, or misclassified material) and partnering with cross-functional teams to disposition or recover usable stock
• Utilize data analysis tools (Excel, ERP systems) to track inventory trends and recommend actions to improve inventory accuracy and reduce waste
• Perform root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams) and collaborate with production and quality teams to implement corrective actions that improve yield and reduce costs
• Validate documentation accuracy by comparing current procedures to actual floor practices and updating materials to ensure clarity, standardization, and compliance with internal and customer requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.

Preferred

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and/or Lean Six Sigma methodologies
• Previous internship or hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment
