STW: Water Resources Intern

The student will work directly under the campus Water and Sewer Engineer (a licensed PE) as part of the water resources team in the Engineering group of Facilities Management. The team is responsible for the water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater infrastructure on campus.

Training will be provided for required software including ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenFlows Water/WaterGEMS, and Bentley OpenFlows Sewer/SewerGEMS.

The position duties and responsibilities may include any of the following:

UTILITY DATA MANAGEMENT

• Enter data for campus hydraulic model(s) and GIS database
• Collect, process, and statistically analyze water use data for campus
• Analyze geospatial water utility information
• Verify the presence and/or condition of water utility assets on campus

PROCESS DOCUMENTATION

• Document data management procedures for water utility assets
• Research water utility asset requirements per industry guidelines
• Interview Facilities staff about water utility assets and use patterns

USEFUL ADDITIONAL SKILLS

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Basic Python or SQL programming
• Functional knowledge of responsible AI tool use
• Ability to read construction documents or other technical/dense material
