Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Mechanical Engineer, EI will be to assist the project team in producing projects of high technical quality, on time, and within budget. In this position, the employee will assist the Project Manager or Project Engineer(s) in the design of mechanical building systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR), hydronic, plumbing, and fire protection systems. The employee may also assist in technical studies, investigations, reports, and system commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems using AutoCAD/Revit.
- Perform heating/cooling load calculations and select mechanical equipment.
- Draft material, construction, and equipment specs.
- Review shop drawings and monitor site progress to ensure compliance with design and codes.
- Participate in system commissioning and prepare condition assessments.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants, contractors, and architects.
- Attend design coordination meetings and actively pursue technical skill development.
- Travel required for site visits (10%-20%, including occasional overnight).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Passed or Registered for the Engineering Exam (EI) with a desire to become a Professional Engineer.
- Relevant internship(s) and/or experience.
- Basic understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry, as well as introductory knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and HAP.
