Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director is to support the Associate Director for Customer Service. This position is responsible for reviewing all professional judgements, including but not limited to Dependency Appeals, Cost of Attendance Appeals, Reconsideration Appeals, Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals, and additional aid requests.
This position also supports the packaging and awarding of financial aid for students through special awarding situations, review of accounts for over-awarding and over budgets, review for unusual enrollment history, and other processes as needed.
This position is responsible for supporting the office of financial aid and the associate director with the maintenance and updating of Policies and procedures, as well as training.
This position will provide counseling to students and families regarding financial aid. This includes providing information and advice on various federal, state, and institutional aid programs via phone, email, and in-person outreach events. This position helps students navigate the financial aid process.

  • Complex Case Management & Appeals: Serve as the primary processor for professional judgment decisions made by the Financial Aid Office. This includes but is not limited to Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals, Cost of Attendance Appeals, Dependency Appeals, Reconsiderations, and Additional Aid Requests. This position is also responsible for special awarding situations like Fall/Spring Only, Schedule of Reductions, Summer Awarding, and other special awarding as needed.

  • Strategic Student & Family Counseling: Counseling with prospective and new students about financial aid options for loans, grants, scholarships, and other financial aid. This includes providing information and advice on institutional, state, and federal student aid programs, as well as information on alternative sources and methods of financing educational costs.

  • Advanced Regulatory Administration and Outreach: Serve as a subject matter expert on Title IV programs, independently interpreting and applying complex federal regulations and institutional policies to ensure strict compliance. Serve as a financial aid resource to Financial Aid staff, NinerCentral staff, and other campus stakeholders. Conduct financial aid presentations and participate in outreach events.

  • Policy & Training Development: Assistance in developing and maintaining policy and procedures, training materials, and staff guidance related to processing and compliance.

  • Confidentiality & Discretion: Manage highly sensitive and confidential student data with the utmost integrity, exercising sound, independent judgment in alignment with FERPA and institutional standards.

  • Autonomous Decision-Making: Operate with a high degree of autonomy, making critical eligibility determinations and solving complex financial aid scenarios with minimal supervision.
