Job Description

PROJECT SUMMARY

The Donor Data Management Intern will collaborate with and support the development services team with a project that will standardize the organization’s member and donor data. The outcome of this project impacts the ability for our partners in the Development and Marketing teams to pull accurate reports and better connect with and steward our top donors and members.

This internship provides an opportunity to someone with a data mindset, who enjoys working with spreadsheets, and an aptitude to learn best practices in database management.

National Trust internships are temporary experiential learning opportunities with no expectation of employment at the conclusion of the internship.

For this internship, the National Trust is offering a stipend of $4,000 to help offset expenses. The period of the internship would be from approximately June 10 – August 2, for approximately 28 hours per week (some flexibility of schedule available).

(Based on candidate availability and skill sets, this project may be combined with our Planned Giving Internship to provide a broader exposure within our Development division.)

DUTIES

  • Help manage a project that will improve donor communications by updating fund descriptions and fund source codes in the CRM.
  • The funds in the system will be re-categorized according to nomenclature that will allow leadership to more readily identify key information about the funds in our reports. The intern will assist in filtering through an Excel document with all of the transactions and will create a new field that will summarize gifts according to the program and spending account they belong to.
  • Support update and data migration of historical gift records and agreements into the CRM, posting historical gift documentation to the top 200 donors' records so that fundraisers can view the history directly from the CRM versus having to search other files for the information.

EDUCATIONAL VALUE TO THE INTERN

The intern will gain experience under the mentorship of respected business professionals and non-profit database managers in an educational setting at one of the nation’s leading arts & cultural and non-profit advocacy organizations. The intern will also have the opportunity to participate in educational programming offered via the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s organization-wide internship program. Students may also be eligible for college or graduate school academic credit at the discretion of their institution.

Specifically, the intern will gain knowledge in the following areas:

  • CRM Database processes : Data extraction, hygiene and imports
