Job Description
Apply advanced building science expertise to govern University envelope standards; establish and enforce Design and Construction Manual (DCM) standards for both the exterior skin and high-durability interior finishes.
Technical Review & Forensics:
Direct the Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) process for capital projects; authorize performance testing (infrared thermography, air barrier testing) and conduct forensic analysis on existing facility failures (e.g., water intrusion, chronic elevator outages).
Asset & Maintenance Liaison:
Formulate the Asset Management Plan for the building shell, interiors, and vertical transportation; translate complex engineering requirements into practical workflows for Maintenance Operations shops.
Consultation & Strategic Liaison:
Serve as the primary technical resource for maintaining fire ratings and thermal boundaries during renovations; negotiate with external architects to ensure aesthetic choices do not override maintenance durability.
Strategic Leadership:
Champion the "Total Building Performance" strategy to identify and correct disconnects between initial building design and long-term maintenance costs. UNC Charlotte
