Job Description

The primary purpose of the Instructional Media Designer I (IMD) is to design, maintain, and support engaging, effective, and accessible learning environments for faculty, students, and staff; as well as to create and maintain formal, informal, physical, and digital learning spaces that support effective and accessible teaching, learning, and research. To that end, the primary purpose of the IMD I position is to develop custom instructional products for use in synchronous, asynchronous, and bichronous distance education courses at UNC Charlotte which includes instructional content, media, and eLearning, as well as to advise with support from colleagues on the best practices for online instruction and increase the effectiveness and efficient use of digital content in distance education courses.

The Instructional Media Designer I position supports course design and redesign by creating instructional resources, including digital learning activities, eLearning modules, and instructional media assets. Responsibilities include basic video editing, development of interactive content using tools such as Articulate Rise and Storyline, and contributing to project workflows and production schedules. The role also provides faculty support through consultations, training materials, and guidance on instructional technologies and media integration. In addition, the Instructional Media Designer I contributes to quality assurance, accessibility, and continuous improvement of instructional materials and digital learning processes. UNC Charlotte
