Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Masters-level student researcher to join our NSF funded STEM Communication Program. This role is ideal for someone passionate about science communication, digital engagement, and creative outreach. The student assistant will contribute to building and maintaining our program’s online presence, including development of a website, while supporting communication with faculty and staff from other institutions interested in adopting the program at their institution.

Responsibilities

  • Website Development & Management
    • Design, update, and maintain the program’s website.
    • Ensure content is accessible, visually appealing, and user-friendly.
    • Integrate multimedia elements (graphics, videos, and other digital files) to enhance engagement.
  • Communications & Outreach
    • Draft and publish program updates, newsletters, and announcements.
    • Assist with producing content for social media channels.
    • Share resources with faculty and staff from other institutions.

Requirements & Desired Characteristics

  • Current enrollment in a Masters program at UNC Charlotte (any discipline; STEM or communication preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience with website design and management (WordPress, Wix, or similar platforms).
  • Familiarity with GitHub for version control, collaboration, and project management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in science communication and outreach.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Creative mindset with attention to detail and design.

Position Details

    • Hours: 10 hours per week
    • Location: on-campus
    • Compensation: Competitive hourly rate ($15 per hour)
    • Start Date: January 2026 
  • End Date: May 15, 2026
