Job Description

Champion House of Care Project One – Organization Profile:
Champion House of Care Project One (CHOC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, as well as those experiencing homelessness, by providing essential resources, vocational training, peer interaction, and community involvement opportunities. Our mission is to empower individuals through job training, education, and support services that promote self-sufficiency and long-term success.


Internship Description
The Champion House of Care Project One Internship Program offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, vocational training, and community engagement. Interns will support program coordination, assist with job training workshops, develop educational materials, and work directly with participants to enhance their skill-building journey. They will also engage in outreach efforts to strengthen employer partnerships and help facilitate job placement services.


Additionally, interns will play a key role in working with the food bank and feeding the homeless, assisting in food distribution efforts to ensure individuals in need receive essential nourishment and support. Interns will also provide assistance with the summer camp and field trips, helping to organize engaging activities, supervise participants, and create meaningful learning and recreational experiences for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.


Location of Internship
• In-Person at Champion House of Care Project One Address: 2230 W Sugar Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262
• In-person participation is required to provide direct support to program participants, assist with hands-on job training, coordinate employer engagement activities, manage food distribution initiatives, and participate in summer camp and field trip activities.


Preferred Student Demographics & Qualifications
• Undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Nonprofit Management, Business, Public Health, or related fields.
• Passion for working with individuals with disabilities, those facing homelessness, and community outreach programs.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Experience or interest in workforce development, job coaching, food assistance programs, youth engagement, or recreational program planning.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality.
