The Advising Success Network (ASN) sits within the Research and Policy department at NASPA. The Advising Success Network (ASN) is a dynamic network of national organizations partnering to engage institutions in holistic advising redesign to advance success for Black, Latino/a/x, Indigenous, Asian, and Pacific Islander students and poverty-affected students. The network develops services and resources to guide institutions in implementing evidence-based advising practices to advance a more equitable student experience to achieve our vision of a higher education landscape that has eliminated race and income as predictors of student success. The ASN is coordinated by NASPA, and its partners include Achieving the Dream, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, EDUCAUSE, NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising, and the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition.
About the Positions
The ASN Marketing/Communications Intern will work closely with the ASN team to assist with maintaining our communications channels and online presence, help manage content in a Learning Management System, and assist with marketing projects.
The ASN is seeking two interns to assist with marketing and communications. The intern must be currently enrolled at an undergraduate or graduate institution to be eligible for this position. This is a remote position for the Fall 2024 semester with an anticipated start date of September 23, 2024.
Essential Responsibilities
A list of the types of projects the intern could be involved with are included below. Projects will vary based on team needs and intern interest.
Maintaining Communications Channels and Online Presence
- Assist with creating and refining a social media strategy
- Create copy for ASN communications channels (newsletters, LinkedIn)
- Schedule posts on social media channels
Manage Learning Management System
- Assist with creating a strategy for developing and disseminating Learning Management System content
- Create or edit content for Learning Management System
- Create a marketing plan for increasing usage of Learning Management System by higher education professionals
Marketing
- Create a marketing strategy for promoting the Advising Success Network free and paid content to institutions
- Update ASN marketing materials i.e. slide decks, documents
- Design ASN Service marketing materials i.e slide decks, service menu
- Conduct research on institutional needs and create institutional profiles
In addition, the interns will assist with all-team projects and participate actively in staff meetings and projects and other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned to support the association.

Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in the fields of Communications, Marketing, Higher Education, or related major;
- Experience with communications work, such as social media, websites, or blogs;
- Experience with marketing;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Experience working with a team;
- An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on Black, Latinx/a/o, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, and poverty-affected students; and
- Commitment to cultivating an inclusive work environment that values the perspectives and lived experiences of a diverse workforce and membership.
- Availability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week through the fall semester (September - December, 2024)
Employment Status:
Part-Time Non-Exempt: Non-exempt employees are those employees who are covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, and are eligible to be paid overtime work in accordance with the provisions of applicable wage and hour laws.
Salary Range
This position pays $25 per hour. The intern is expected to work an average of 15 hours per week from August/September - December, 2024.

Office Location
This position may be based anywhere in the contiguous 48 states.
It is the employee’s responsibility to provide reliable internet capabilities.
Travel
There is no travel associated with this position.
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily office-based with primary work on a computer, including phone, email, and video conferencing.
Additional COVID-19 Information
Vaccination is not a requirement for employment. However, all employees are strongly encouraged to follow the CDC guidance on vaccination, including becoming fully-vaccinated and staying up-to-date as eligible. All employees may flex their schedules for time taken to receive and recover from COVID-19 vaccinations.
In certain circumstances, NASPA may require testing for all staff regardless of vaccination status.
Masks must be worn per local, state, tribal, and federal guidance, including the CDC, with the most stringent level of guidance followed. Regardless of guidance, all employees must have masks available should masking be requested by other employees, members, or external constituents. In certain settings, NASPA may require or strongly recommend that employees wear masks.
