Description:

• Overview: Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects that improve product, process and/or equipment performance (cost, quality and service). Provides solutions for increased process selects, increased material utilization, decreased costs, and improvement to product quality by planning, organizing and implementing projects.

• Assists in problem solving, to ensure timely resolution of short-term process issues, and higher-level troubleshooting.

• Provides cost and schedule updates on assigned project.

• Provide general engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge (understands theories and fundamentals) and lead a project to get to root cause of issues, and put permanent solutions in place.

• Recommend and implement permanent solutions to long term performance issues, and improve existing and new technologies.

• Meet all Environmental, Safety and Health requirements.

• Develop knowledge of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering.

• Modify existing process setting through rigorous experimental design to continuously improve process performance

Requirements:

• Pursuing a degree in 4-year engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related major

• Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later

• Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

• Be willing to work in Durham, North Carolina

Desired Skills:

• At least one semester of core engineering course work completed

• GPA > 3.0

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
