Tax Preparer/Accountant

Mooresville Tax Service is seeking a full-time Tax Preparer/Accountant to join our team. This position is a great opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or someone early in their career who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in tax preparation and accounting while building a career in the tax profession.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual and business income tax returns
• Assist with tax planning and tax research
• Review client financial information and supporting documentation
• Meet with clients to review completed tax returns, explain results, and answer questions
• Communicate with clients to obtain necessary tax information and answer questions
• Assist with bookkeeping and other accounting-related projects as needed
• Maintain accurate and organized client records
• Work closely with other members of the tax and accounting team

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting preferred
• Must be eligible to obtain a PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number)
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential is not required; however, an existing credential or interest in pursuing one is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Willingness to learn and ask questions
• Ability to communicate professionally with clients and team members
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, particularly during tax season

This is a full-time, in-person position at our office located in Mooresville, NC.  Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.  Extended hours may be required during tax season.
