Human Resources Internship
Location: 400 E. Central Ave., Mount Holly, NC 28120
Duration: May 4th, 2026- June 30th, 2026 (Holidays Off: Memorial Day)
Position Type: Part- Time w/ no benefits
Pay Range: $16- $18 per hour
Schedule: Required to work 16- 20 hours each week; schedule will vary based on the selected candidate's availability.
Objective:
The goal of this internship program is to provide valuable work experience within a local government Human Resources department. The intern will support the Human Resources department in daily administrative duties, help streamline HR processes, and gain exposure to various generalized HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance.
Eligibility:
Students currently enrolled at a local college/university majoring in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field; as well as working adults with a general knowledge and/or work experience in Human Resources, local government sector work, or any related work experience/knowledge are eligible to apply for the HR internship. Must obtain a valid driver’s license.
Key Duties:
- Administrative Support: Assists in preparing and organizing HR documentation, including employee files and other HR records;
- Recruitment Support: Helps manage job postings and communicate with candidates regarding interview schedules or next steps;
- Employee Onboarding: Assists with preparing onboarding materials for new hires;
- Compliance: Assists with promoting and maintaining compliance with City HR policies; Ensures compliance and adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws;
- Project Assistance: Supports HR Department with special projects related to employee engagement and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or equivalent tools;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
