Stars is dedicated to improving health outcomes and advancing care experience for members and provider partners through quality solutions. Stars is responsible for plan quality performance, as evaluated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Stars rating system.

This summer, the Stars Intern will be immersed in a dynamic environment as Stars launches new program and process management structures. This intern will take an active role in supporting regular governance meetings, collaborating with leaders across the organization, and helping to shape the strategies that elevate our quality performance. The intern's work will span diverse areas including analytics, project management, and competitive intelligence which will provide the intern with hands-on experience in the essential functions that power our continuous improvement efforts.

This is an in-person internship in Louisville, KY and will require in-office work 2-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with program and process management activities, including preparation for governance meetings and documentation for senior leadership.Support the monitoring, collection, and analysis of data related to CMS Star Ratings and program performance metrics.

  • Contribute to building and organizing a library of competitive intelligence, collaborating with team members.

  • Participate in team meetings and discussions on program strategy, improvement, and leadership support topics

  • Conduct research on healthcare quality metrics and best practices for CMS Star Ratings.

  • Prepare presentations, reports, and documentation for stakeholders and senior leaders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a current full-time undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Health Sciences, or related degree with an expected graduation between Summer 2028 and Summer 2029

  • Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday for 12 weeks from May 18 - August 7, 2026.

  • Must be located in Louisville, KY and able to go into the Louisville office 2-3 days per week

  • Must possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

  • Must not require sponsorship to work in the U.S. now or in the future

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a strong academic history, with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA being desired

  • Be actively involved on-campus and/or in the community

  • Possess an interest in working in the healthcare industry

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$37,440 - $96,800 per year
