Job Description

SUMMARY 

USA for UNHCR, a certified Great Place to Work non-profit organization, headquartered in Washington, DC, will host their summer Internship Program summer 2024. USA for UNHCR’s vision is a ‘World without Refugees’, whose mission is to protect refugees and empower them with hope and opportunity. 

The Human Resources team seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as an intern. This internship is a 10-week assignment that will provide excellent opportunities for contributing to USA for UNHCR’s mission and vision. The internship is open to undergraduate students who are in the process of completing a degree or equivalent coursework in Human Resources, Business, Management or Psychology.  The intern will be expected to work with the Human Resources team and participate in various programmatic team activities. This paid internship opportunity runs from June 3, 2024, through August 9, 2024. Internships do not include room and board. The Intern must be available to commit to the entire 10-week duration of the internship. This is a seasonal hybrid position, with in-office work on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and remote work on Monday and Friday, located in our Headquarters Office in Washington, DC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Provide recruitment administrative support by posting job openings on various platforms 

• Support with maintenance and upkeep of the applicant tracking system (BambooHR) and Talent Acquisition SharePoint site

• Prepare interview materials, such as interview questions guidance, evaluation forms, and candidate profiles.

• Participate in special HR projects, such as developing and updating HR toolkits, guides, and templates.

• Support HR functional leaders to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures as needed.

• Conduct research and provide recommendations on recruitment best practices and industry trends, with a strong focus on diversity, equity and inclusion.

• Serve as an HR point of contact for other interns. 

• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive HR information with discretion.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

• 0-2 years of relevant experience

• Ability to be a quick and eager learner

• Strong attention to detail

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word

• Ability to quickly learn new software and database programs

• Demonstrates passion; the willingness to go the extra mile and stellar customer service

• Well organized, and proven ability to multi-task and manage their time

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Demonstrates passion for USA for UNHCR’s mission

• Be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully

• Have high energy, clear goal orientation and strong work ethic.

• Be an effective team player, be collaborative.

COMPENSATION

$19.00 per hour
