Job Description
Wayfinders is seeking a Social Media & Short-Form Video Specialist (freelancer or college intern) to lead our short-form video and social content from February through August 2026 with potential to extend beyond that timeframe.
You will turn our existing raw footage into compelling short videos and work with our Program and Marketing Associate to manage our presence on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn and Facebook, with a primary focus on donor-facing storytelling.
This is a project-based, part-time role ideal for someone who loves editing vertical video, understands social platforms, and wants to use those skills for impact.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Editing
● Edit existing Wayfinders video footage into short-form vertical content (15–60 seconds) for Instagram
Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
● Add simple branding elements (logo, intros/outros, captions/subtitles, basic text overlays).
● Cut occasional slightly longer videos (60–180 seconds) for YouTube or the website.
Social Media Management
● Determine strategies to extend reach, including growing followers to Wayfinders accounts
● Repurpose video content across platforms with tailored captions and hashtags (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube Shorts)
● Adapt stories for LinkedIn, emphasizing impact, outcomes, partnerships, and donor relevance.
● Maintain a simple content calendar, aiming for 2–3 posts per week across priority channels.
● Test paid boosting or posts across key platforms. (modest budget for testing)
Storytelling for Donors
● Work with Wayfinders staff to shape content around key themes:
○ Lives changed (participant/family stories)
○ Donor and partner impact (“because of you...”)
○ Inside Wayfinders (staff, volunteers, behind-the-scenes)
● Ensure posts clearly communicate the difference donor support makes and invite people to “Donate / Get Involved.”
Measurement & Reporting
● Track basic performance metrics (views, reach, engagement, follower growth).
● Provide a brief monthly summary of what’s working and ideas to test next.
