Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Case Manager serves as a liaison between the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX and stakeholders including, but not limited to students, employees, Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Police and Public Safety, and members of the public. The Case Manager is responsible for the intake, management, and where appropriate, assignment of all reports related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. The Case Manager is responsible for the coordination of case-specific supportive measures, accommodations, and resource referrals. In addition to maintaining accurate and complete records of care coordination, the Case Manager must demonstrate the ability to work independently, confidentially, and sensitively. In coordination with the rest of the department’s case management team, the Case Manager will work to develop training and outreach within the sphere of civil rights and Title IX compliance to the university community. This position generally works regular business hours but occasionally requires the flexibility, ability, and willingness to work nights and weekends as necessary to respond quickly to reports made by students, staff, faculty, parents, and others.

• Reviews assigned reports made to the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX and makes immediate contact per standard operating procedures.• Coordinates all outreach and ongoing communication to all parties associated with reports inclusive of complainants, respondents, and witnesses.• Meets with involved parties to discuss: (1) university processes; (2) parties’ rights and options in the process, including the right to confidentiality, right to contact law enforcement, etc.; (3) supportive and interim measures; (4) accommodations, including academic, housing, employment, and transportation; (5) referrals to counseling (CAPS and EAP), Student Health Center, Dean of Students Office, University Ombuds, etc. as needed; (6) on- and off-campus resources; (7) preservation of evidence; (8) right to an Advisor and or Attorney/Non-attorney Advocate (as relevant); and (9) other information as necessary in the discretion of the Case Manager.• Makes determinations, in conjunction with the Director and Associate Director regarding requests by individuals for interim measures and accommodations.• Communicates effectively with all persons in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other employment-related privacy laws.• Collaborates closely with the Dean of Students Office, CAPS, The Center for Integrated Care, the Student Health Center, the Office of Disability Services, and other appropriate offices to provide a holistic and comprehensive approach to services for student-related cases.• Collaborates closely with Academic Affairs, Human Resources, chairs, and direct supervisors to provide a holistic and comprehensive approach to services for employee-related cases.• Follows up with all involved parties regularly, and as needed, after a report is resolved to ensure continued support and success.• Collects and analyzes data in regard to intake and accommodations, identifies and assesses trends, and develops strategies for future communication and outreach.• Provides knowledge and understanding of various university policies, procedures, and protocols within the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX and with other processes, including academic probation/suspension, add/drop and withdrawal deadlines, tuition policies, Housing and Dining appeal process, etc.• Participates in the assessment of community development needs and designing programs, services, and communication strategies to respond to those needs.• Other duties as assigned by the Director or Associate Director, including providing training and education to the community about civil rights, Title IX, and Campus SaVE, and the functions of the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX.
