Job Description

Industrial Engineering Leadership Track
Fast-Track Floor Supervisor
Carolina Textile Care – Early Branch, South Carolina

Introduction

Carolina Textile Care is looking for a recent or soon-to-graduate Industrial Engineer who wants to move directly into real operational leadership.

This is an environment where production must move every day, customers must be served every night, equipment must keep running, teams must perform safely, and problems must be solved in real time.

You will begin in a frontline supervisory role inside a large-scale commercial laundry operation serving hotels and resorts throughout coastal South Carolina, Georgia and into North Carolina. From day one, you will be expected to think, observe, improve, and lead.

We are looking for someone who:
• notices operational friction,
• thinks systematically,
• sees waste instinctively,
• communicates clearly under pressure,
• and enjoys making industrial operations run better.

Initial Training and Development

The first phase of this role is intentionally hands-on.

During approximately the first month, the successful candidate will work directly on the production floor performing many of the same jobs as the hourly associates who operate our machinery and move goods through the plant. The objective is to develop a practical understanding of how production actually functions at ground level before supervisory responsibilities begin.

Following this introduction, the candidate will rotate through several critical plant functions including:
• sort and wash preparation,
• wash aisle operations,
• finishing equipment operations,
• pack and ship,
• and other key production areas.

A portion of the training period will be spent working alongside the maintenance department in order to develop a better understanding of the construction, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial laundry equipment and systems.

What You Will Actually Do

You will help supervise and operate a fast-moving industrial processing facility where thousands of pounds of customer goods move through production daily.  Your responsibilities will include:
• supervising production teams on an active manufacturing floor,
• getting to know floor staff individually and managing them daily,
• assigning operators to duty stations based upon plant needs and individual capability,
• enforcing floor rules and operational discipline,
• observing and reinforcing workplace safety requirements,
• balancing quality output with production efficiency,
• monitoring workflow, staffing deployment, throughput, and quality,
• identifying bottlenecks and operational inefficiencies,
• helping improve plant productivity and labor utilization,
• learning industrial equipment and production systems,
• supporting operator training and development,
• ensuring safe plant operation,
• troubleshooting real-time production problems,
• helping maintain production flow under changing conditions,
• participating in continuous improvement initiatives,
• helping drive cleanliness, organization, and operational discipline throughout the facility.

This is a hands-on position. Supervisors are expected not only to lead production, but also to step directly into production work when necessary to cover staffing shortages, production bottlenecks, unexpected operational issues, or changing plant needs.

Schedule and Work Environment

Production operations begin each morning at 5:30 AM. Candidates should expect early starts and should also expect to work alternate weekends as part of normal supervisory scheduling.

This is an operations-first environment where customer demand, production flow, staffing realities, and equipment conditions change daily. Supervisors are expected to remain engaged, adaptable, and highly aware of what is happening on the plant floor at all times.

What Makes This Different

Most engineering graduates spend years producing reports before being trusted with operational responsibility.  Here, you will be expected to:
• make decisions,
• manage people,
• understand production flow,
• improve processes,
• and develop leadership judgment very quickly.

You will work directly with ownership and plant leadership.

Strong performers will rapidly gain exposure to:
• production management,
• logistics,
• labor optimization,
• industrial process improvement,
• equipment systems,
• operational analytics,
• and multi-department coordination.

What We Are Looking For

Preferred background:
• Industrial Engineering degree (completed or near completion),
• internships in manufacturing, distribution, logistics, food processing, industrial operations, or related environments,
• summer or part-time industrial work experience,
• demonstrated interest in operations and process improvement.

We are especially interested in candidates who:
• are highly observant,
• think independently,
• remain calm under pressure,
• are naturally organized,
• enjoy solving operational problems,
• can lead peers without arrogance,
• and are comfortable entering an environment where not every answer is pre-written.

This is about learning, mastering and improving a complex industrial process.

Compensation and Benefits

This is an exempt position.

Compensation consists of:
• base salary of $65,000 per year,
• participation in a management bonus plan tied to productivity and operational performance with a target bonus opportunity of 10%,
• 11 days of paid time off annually,
• participation in the company healthcare plan.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, successful candidates will:
• understand the complete production flow of the plant,
• supervise production teams confidently,
• identify operational inefficiencies independently,
• contribute meaningful process improvements,
• build credibility with operators and leadership,
• and become capable of running significant portions of plant operations.
