Job Description
The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, transforming the utility landscape to enhance safety, reliability and sustainability. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Transmission & Distribution (T&D) operations In North America and is looking for an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer in its Energy & Power Group to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and utility modernization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future.
As an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer, you will be working closely with our regional and global Transmission & Distribution (T&D) delivery teams to support our utility/developer clients and operations teams as we expand our energy transition portfolio. You will play a key role in development of design deliverables for utility upgrades including greenfield/brownfield projects, and developer interconnection facilities. Prior experience in the design of utility transmission and distribution systems will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate shall demonstrate relevant experience and technical knowledge in Overhead transmission line design. You will be responsible for understanding the client standards and design guidelines to prepare project deliverables under the direction of the project lead.

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related engineering discipline. Master's degree is a plus. (Preferred but not required)

Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
-
A minimum of three years of direct Overhead Transmission Line Engineering design experience with a utility or consulting organization

Knowledge of NESC, RUS, ASCE and other industry design specifications related to transmission line design.

Prior experience in development of detailed engineering deliverables including bill of materials, design criteria documents, stringing charts, structure drawings and assemblies etc.....

Prior experience in development and review of Steel pole vendor specifications and Steel pole fabrication drawings.

Prior experience in preparing design calculations, construction drawings, and specifications.

Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, PLS-Tower etc.....

Familiarity with foundation design software like MFAD, LPile etc.....

Ability to perform field visits and walk-downs as required for client projects and providing engineering support for clients through the construction.

Experience with Microsoft suite applications and Auto CAD is preferred.

Strong communication and technical writing skills

Team player with great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
