TFA Ignite Fellow (Virtual, Part-Time, All Majors Welcome)

Location & Schedule: 

Fully virtual. You choose a tutoring placement that fits your existing schedule. Sessions are built to work alongside student life. 

Who We Are: 

Teach For America is a national nonprofit committed to expanding opportunity and excellent education for all kids. Through the Teach For America Ignite program, we offer paid, virtual tutoring opportunities that let college students support K–12 students during the school day. TFA Ignite fellows help students build confidence, motivation, and academic momentum. At the same time, fellows strengthen communication, facilitation, planning, and problem‑solving skills while forming consistent, encouraging relationships with students in under‑resourced communities. The fellowship is offered during both fall and spring semesters. 

What You'll Do: 

• Tutor and mentor a small group of K–12 students (2–3) each week, supporting them virtually during their school day 

• Work 3–5 hours per week for a 14‑week term: 

• Weeks 1–2: Complete training and onboarding to prepare for sessions 

• Weeks 3–14: Lead weekly tutoring sessions and build consistent relationships 

• Help students feel seen, motivated, and more confident in their learning 

• Accelerate growth in elementary reading, middle school math, or SAT/ACT test prep 

• Receive weekly lesson plans, training, and support from experienced educators 

• Earn a financial award for your semester of service

No matter your major or prior experience, TFA Ignite helps you build career‑ready skills in communication, facilitation, adaptability, and relationship‑building. All while making a real impact for students each week. 

Minimum Requirements: 

• At least 18 years old 

• 2.5 cumulative undergraduate GPA or higher 

• Able to work approximately 5 hours per week throughout the semester (~3 tutoring, ~2 prep) 

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in Spring 2026, former TFA Ignite fellow, or Teach For America alum 

• Must be a citizen, national, or legal resident of the United States, EAD holder, or have DACA status 

• Uphold Teach For America’s commitment to people, community, and expanding opportunity 

• No background in education required—students from all majors and experience levels are encouraged to apply
