About the Internship

The Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals (TB&T) Department is looking for an intern to join its Technical & Maintenance Services team. As part of our team, you will gain hands-on experience reviewing condition survey reports, supporting various facility repairs and right-of-entry agreement processes, and analyzing real-world facility maintenance data. This role allows you to contribute meaningful work that helps the agency fulfill its mission of keeping the region moving and improving facility management strategies. You will leave with practical knowledge in asset assessment, data analysis, and construction across tunnels, bridges and building structures - skills highly valued in facilities and infrastructure management careers.

Responsibilities

  • Review facility condition survey reports, assist in preparing various repair & ratings logs

  • Asist in Right of Entry Application and Tenant Construction & Alteration Process

  • Analyze facility maintenance data for TB&T Asset Management Group

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship

  • Major in Engineering (Civil, Structural, or related discipline)

Desired Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of civil/structural engineering

  • Past internship experience in civil/structural engineering field is a plus

  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Willingness to learn new knowledge and technical skills

  • Interest in public service and/or transportation

Internship Details

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026

  • The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026

  • This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)

  • In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
