Job Description
- The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for managing affinity-based alumni events and programs. Affinity-based events and programs are defined as events or programs organized by and for groups of alumni with a shared interest or experience. Events may be in person, on or off campus, as well as virtual. Affinity examples include, but are not limited to, geographic location, corporate affiliation, student organization affiliation, and professional industry. This position will strategically develop programs, activities and communications to connect, serve and engage alumni within various affinities.
- As part of a university-wide corporate engagement strategy, this position will support the Senior Associate Director of Affinity Networks to create and execute engagement opportunities for alumni working within key Charlotte area corporations.
- This position will be responsible for building engagement strategies with Greek alumni chapters and Greek-affiliated alumni to build relationships and channels for exchanging data and creating opportunities for engagement. This position will also work to identify and provide campus resources and guidance for their annual events.
- This position is also responsible for serving as the Alumni Engagement liaison with the Athletics department and will manage athletics-related events such as watch parties, away game tailgates, and conference tournament events.
- The Associate Director will collaborate with the Alumni Communications Specialist to ensure that the communications and marketing initiatives are aligned and successfully coordinated with their programming area. The position will work with the specialist to develop a yearly communications plan.
Volunteer Management
- The position is responsible for managing volunteers and committees working on specific programs or events, such as corporate engagement activities, Greek organization alumni gatherings, regional gatherings, athletic watch parties, away game tailgates, and other affinity-based events. This position will respond to alumni inquiries and proactively identify alumni groups to engage.
Fundraising
- Work with volunteer boards to reach 100% giving by members during each fiscal year. This may require creating and sending letters and/or email solicitations and direct verbal asks.
- This position will conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with alumni to deepen awareness about involvement opportunities and strengthen their connection with the University. Associate Director will be responsible for developing and managing a budget for their area of oversight.
- Associate Director will exercise sound judgment in selecting event venues and vendors. The position will assess vendors and venues from a risk management perspective in order to ensure that the university’s safety standards are met.
