Internship Summary

  • The Rotational Internship Program with Ascension Technologies is designed to provide an on-the-job learning opportunity to gain "real world" IT work experience in a large IT service environment, supporting IT end users who work in a healthcare setting.

  • As a Digital & Business Solutions Intern , you will help evolve the digital tools that power our employee experience, focusing on how thousands of associates stay connected and efficient.

  • Ascension Technologies aims to provide a working and learning environment where interns can develop technical skills; this hybrid role focuses partly on Platform Strategy (Sitecore/Intranet) and partly on Technical Research & Development (AppSheet).

What You Will Do

  • As an Ascension Technologies Intern, you will be able to work on real-life and meaningful projects, develop your technical skills, collaborate, and network with various teams across the IT Infrastructure and Security continuum.

  • You will work on the "Intranet Evolution" project, helping to modernize how we share information, while also acting as a technical researcher to find better ways to manage data using low-code tools like Google AppSheet.

  • This work involves gathering requirements to understand stakeholder needs and researching evidence-based practice; specifically, your research into AppSheet will determine how teams manage data in the future.

Essential Functions

  • Intranet Evolution: Participates in technology-related projects such as the migration and modernization of internal communication platforms using Sitecore.

  • Low-Code Development: Research and data gathering for key initiatives, including researching and prototyping solutions using Google AppSheet to replace legacy tools like AODocs or Smartsheet.

  • Technology Research: Collaborates on driving improvement activities by investigating new features within Google Workspace and providing reports on how they can be applied to solve business problems.

  • Associate Experience: Collaborates with technical resources to contribute to projects that directly improve how employees interact with digital tools, streamlining their daily workflows.

  • Reporting: Translates functional requirements to technical specifications and presents clear recommendations to leadership regarding vague problems.

  • Shadowing: Shadows employees to understand different roles in the organization and gains familiarity with different healthcare IT systems.

What You Will Need

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Communications, Organizational Development, Project Management.

Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.

Additional Preferences

Preferred Competencies:

  • Low-Code/No-Code: A strong interest in tools like Google AppSheet or Microsoft PowerApps.

  • Content Management: Exposure to or interest in CMS platforms like Sitecore or WordPress is a plus.

  • Google Ecosystem: Proficiency with Google Office tools (Sheets, Drive, Sites), including spreadsheet formulas and pivot tables.

  • Critical Thinking: The ability to look at a current process (e.g., "We use Smartsheet for this") and objectively research if there is a better, more integrated way to do it.

  • Research & Reporting: Practical analytical and communication skills, with the ability to take a vague problem, research it independently, and present a clear recommendation.

  • Data Structures: Working knowledge of relational databases/database structures/schemas and data flow diagrams.
