Job Description

Interested in working to support literacy in North Carolina? Work with Helping Education to provide online reading tutoring to elementary schoolers via Zoom.

Interns who move forward in this role will:

  • be trained in a research-based literacy program with scripted lessons,
  • meet one-on-one with elementary school readers via Zoom,
  • receive personalized coaching to grow as a tutor and mentor to students,
  • be invited to participate in internal team meetings,
  • have the option to create a cumulative project in which they propose how the organization could increase capacity.
  • Successful candidates will dedicate the majority of their time working directly with students, providing online reading tutoring to NC 1st-5th graders. Those tutoring times will include:

    • Mondays-Thursdays during the daytime
    • Tuesdays-Thursdays, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

    All tutoring will take place on Zoom. We recommend that you have a laptop or tablet with working camera and microphone for tutoring purposes.

    Please note that in order to move forward in this position, candidates will need to be able to pass a school district background check. This background check requires that you be at least 18 years of age and have a US driver's license or state ID card.
