Monarch NC is seeking a dedicated North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our Community Support Team in Winston-Salem. As part of our trauma‑informed organization, you’ll play a vital role in supporting adults with mental health or substance use challenges as they build skills, strengthen their resilience, and pursue meaningful life choices.
What You’ll Do
As a Peer Support Specialist, you will:
- Provide individualized, community-based support that encourages self-determination, personal choice, and meaningful participation in daily life.
- Use your lived experience to model values, attitudes, and behaviors that inspire confidence, wellness, and progress.
- Help individuals take an active role in directing their own recovery journey and decision-making.
- Support people in understanding and exercising their rights, advocating for themselves, and connecting to resources.
- Offer valuable insight to team members to ensure each person’s voice, preferences, and strengths are recognized and integrated into care.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing updates of each person’s Person-Centered Plan (PCP).
- Communicate progress, observations, and the effectiveness of strategies to the Team Leader.
What You’ll Bring
To qualify, candidates must have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Active North Carolina CPSS certification.
- Lived experience and a personal recovery story related to mental health or substance use.
- At least 1 year of experience working with adults who have mental health and/or substance use diagnoses.
