Product Development Intern

In this role, you will be a part of a team transforming surgeons’ experience from an analog world of visualizing surgical intervention to an information rich, digital experience. This digital experience will in turn provide real time surgical insights aimed at improving surgeon workflow and patient outcomes. You will support development of real time imaging platforms and create tools that support the production process of these platforms.

The role is part of the Danaher Corporation Summer Internship Program. The program is a 10-12 week internship that will provide you ownership of focused project area that you will develop using your technical skills and Danaher business system skills that you will be learning during the program. The program provides interaction with Leica Microsystems technical business leaders; including an end of program project review where you will highlight your project learnings.   

The successful candidate will have the following capabilities, experience and qualities:

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Software Development
      • Programming languages: Python, C#, C, C++ or similar languages
    • Algorithm Development/Data Science
      • Experience with machine learning image processing
      • Experience developing data pipelines or ModelOps Environments
    • Mechanical design using Solidworks
    • Optical design using Zemax
    • Imaging Science
      • Experience developing spectroscopy, hyperspectral imaging, fluorescent imaging, compressive sensing or similar imaging modalities
    • Electrical Engineering 
      • FPGA or Microcontroller programming
      • Circuit design using Altium
  • Pursuing an advanced degree in computer science, data science, engineering, physics or related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic and influencing skills.
  • Professional and positive attitude maintained at all times.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with others exhibiting good teamworking skills.
  • Ability to multi-task by handling diverse assignments concurrently.
