Job Description
We’re a Charlotte based nonprofit on a mission to ignite a love for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) among K-12 students through hands-on experiences and real-world problem-solving.
The Project
We are looking to create clear, engaging, and age-appropriate video lessons and self-study materials on introductory AI and machine learning topics for high school students. This internship is ideal for students passionate about AI, education, content creation, and simplifying complex technical concepts.
Develop video lessons explaining topics such as:
What is machine learning?
- Supervised vs. unsupervised learning
- What is a neural network and how does it work?
- Real-world applications of AI
Create self-study materials, including:
- Lesson summaries
- Practice questions
- Simple hands-on coding exercises (optional but beneficial)
- Visual aids, diagrams, or infographics
Ensure all content is clear, age-appropriate, and engaging for high school students.
Collaborate with us to refine lesson flow, style, and accuracy.
Deliver content on time and adapt based on feedback.
Learning Experience
This internship gives students the chance to deepen their understanding of machine learning while building a strong portfolio of educational video lessons and study materials. Intern will strengthen their communication and curriculum-design skills by simplifying complex AI topics for high school learners, and gain valuable experience working for a mission-driven STEM nonprofit. The role is fully remote, flexible, and allows students to make a meaningful impact on youth STEM education.
Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the student will have created a complete set of high-quality machine learning materials for high school students, including engaging video lessons and clear self-study guides covering supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and neural networks. They will produce content that is educational, accessible, and aligned with Maker Mindz’s mission, while gaining practical experience in curriculum design, technical communication, and simplifying complex STEM concepts for young learners.
