Positions in this function include those who monitor and operate computer and peripheral equipment: review, analyze, and modify programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for large-scale computer systems. Evaluate system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Provide expertise in operating software applications, consulting on complex projects/existing applications, software systems programming, timely completion of scheduled jobs, and overall operating systems Processes. Also includes overseeing environments’ health and facilitation of high severity incidents to improve the state of service availability and continuity. Develop processes and activities that focus on restoring service after an incident occurs. Document all hardware, application, facility, etc. problems and take corrective action as required. Due to this being part of Optum’s FISMA environment, all work must be completed in the United States.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Handling server administration functions across the nation and abroad. Deployment of Operating System Security and Software Updates
  • Vulnerability and risk management including antivirus, baselines
  • Expertise in hardening, testing and monitoring systems against possible security threats, with exposure to various regulatory standards
  • Highly organized, possess a meticulous attention to detail and comfortable working within strict operational boundaries and procedures with the Ability to create and maintain all documentation and adhere to company standards, policy, and regulations
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software engineer and other team members to ensure successful delivery of products
  • Involved in providing 24x7 on-call support of Server Operating Systems as part of rotating team coverage
  • Analyze all aspects of the existing infrastructure and recommends modifications that will enhance system reliability, availability, serviceability and salability
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills, highly organized, ability to complete high level projects with little supervision
  • Work with teammates, clients and other teams to identify and address systems problems
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry trends and technologies to improve development practices and enhance the overall quality of the software

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 3+ years of equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience supporting/maintaining Windows Server Operating Systems
  • 3+ years of experience with Vulnerability and risk management including antivirus, baselines
  • 2+ years of experience working in an environment that serviced/monitored 500+ servers
  • 1+ years of general experience with basic scripting and Microsoft MSI packages
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours (Wed - Sun 6pm - 2am CT)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with auditing and security standards
  • Experience with creating and updating training documentation and presentations as needed
  • Experience with reading adjusting and scripting powershell automation
  • Familiarity with VMware and ESX Server Support
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure services(e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
