Residential Construction Field Coordinator

MCM-MCMILLAN BUILDERS LLC

Part-Time
Closes on Friday, November 6, 2026

Job Description

McMillan Builders is seeking a reliable, experienced, and detail-oriented Construction Field Coordinator to provide on-site support to our Project Managers across multiple residential construction projects.

Our Project Managers are responsible for managing several projects at different stages of construction. The Construction Field Coordinator provides consistent field oversight, communication, and follow-through, helping ensure that each project continues to move forward according to the plans, schedule, and McMillan Builders' standards.

The Field Coordinator will spend the majority of their time visiting active residential construction sites, monitoring progress and workmanship, communicating with subcontractors, identifying potential issues, documenting jobsite conditions, and keeping the Project Manager informed of important developments in the field.

This is a hands-on position for someone who understands residential construction, pays attention to details, communicates well, and takes pride in quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Jobsite Oversight

  • Make regular visits to assigned residential construction projects.
  • Monitor construction progress and confirm work is progressing according to plans, specifications, and project expectations.
  • Observe workmanship and identify items that require correction or additional attention.
  • Monitor scheduled work and identify potential delays or conflicts.
  • Identify construction issues early and communicate them to the Project Manager.
  • Check that jobsites are organized, reasonably clean, and maintained in a professional manner.
  • Document jobsite progress and conditions with photographs and written updates.
  • Must be able to lift 50-100 lbs.

Project Manager Support

  • Provide the Project Manager with timely and accurate information from the field.
  • Communicate changes, concerns, questions, and potential problems as they arise.
  • Follow up on items previously identified by the Project Manager.
  • Assist with coordinating subcontractors and confirming that scheduled trades are on site and progressing appropriately.
  • Verify that work is complete and ready for the next phase of construction.
  • Help the Project Manager stay informed about each project without requiring them to be physically present at every jobsite.

Quality Control

  • Review completed work for obvious deficiencies, incomplete items, or work that does not meet project expectations.
  • Identify issues that need to be addressed before subsequent work covers them.
  • Compare field conditions with the plans and bring discrepancies or questions to the Project Manager's attention.
  • Help maintain McMillan Builders' standards for quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Subcontractor & Jobsite Communication

  • Maintain professional working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Communicate field observations and concerns clearly and professionally.
  • Follow up with subcontractors regarding outstanding items when appropriate.
  • Keep the Project Manager informed of commitments, progress, and unresolved issues.
  • Represent McMillan Builders professionally on every jobsite.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in residential construction is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of residential construction processes from site work and framing through final completion.
  • Ability to read and understand residential construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize construction and workmanship issues.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently across multiple jobsites.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for photographs, communication, and documentation.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between projects.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, homeowners, and the McMillan Builders team.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, follow-through, and accountability.

The Right Person for This Position

The ideal candidate is someone who naturally notices the details and understands how one phase of construction affects the next. They can walk onto a jobsite and quickly understand what is happening, what should be happening next, and whether something needs attention.

This person does not need to make every decision or replace the Project Manager. Their role is to observe, communicate, follow up, and help keep projects moving forward.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, takes initiative, and understands that identifying a potential problem early is far more valuable than discovering it after the work is complete.

Most importantly, this person should take pride in representing McMillan Builders and share our commitment to quality construction, craftsmanship, integrity, and taking care of our clients.
