Job Description
Purpose:
Enforce all rules and regulations outlined in the Ordinance Governing Parking, Traffic and the Registration of Motor Vehicles for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte
Reduce visitor deck congestion, create a friendly atmosphere, and provide unparalleled customer service
Policy:
It is the policy for Parking Enforcement staff to abide by the mission, vision and values in action which have been established to support the overall mission of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the Department of Parking and Transportation Services
Schedule:
Parking Enforcement Officers will be scheduled to a minimum of (15) hours per week. Schedule will vary based on the needs of the department and the student's class schedule.
Some weekends will be required.
Mandatory workdays include:
* Move in
* Home Football Games
* Fall Commencement
* Spring Commencement
* CMS Graduation
Work Environment:
Parking Enforcement Officers must be able to:
* Work outdoors in all weather conditions
* Lift up to (50) lbs.
* Walk, stand, and /or sit for extended periods of time
Uniforms:
Parking Enforcement Officers will be issued the following:
* (3) T-Shirts
* (1) Hoodie
* (1) Winter Coat
* (1) Baseball cap as requested
* (1) Knitted cap as requested
Primary Job Duties:
Parking Enforcement Officers duties include, but are not limited to:
* Patrolling all Parking Areas either by foot or by License Plate Recognition Vehicle
* Checking all vehicles for appropriate parking authorization
* Issuing citations to vehicles parked in violation of the Parking Ordinance
* Assist campus guests and students/staff/faculty by providing accurate parking information and outstanding customer service during class changes at the entrance or exit of one of the following parking areas:
* East Deck 1
* Cone Visitor Deck
* Union Visitor Deck
* Union Commuter Deck
Essential functions and tasks of a Pats Ambassador include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Provide impeccable customer services with a friendly and helpful attitude every time
* Assist customers in using automated parking systems'* Assist in keeping parking areas and equipment clean and orderly by picking up trash left on or around equipment
* Actively greet guests and answer any parking related questions
* Direct guests to next available parking area if a visitor area fills or experiences technical difficulties
* Actively look for ways to assist faculty, staff, students, and guests
* Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned
* Communicate any equipment malfunctions to the Communications Center
Requirements:
* Valid Drivers License and clean driving record
* Must possess good judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure
* Leadership experience preferred, but not required.
Please note: When Parking Enforcement Officers work Special Events, such as Football Games and Commencements they are paid a premium rate of $15 per hour.
