As we inspire generations to explore the wonder of our world, we desire to see the diversity and amazing, expanding tapestry of this world and community reflected in all our programming, behind the scenes, and in our team members, board, and volunteers.

Come Work with Us…

CTC is seeking energetic, motivated undergraduate students who believe in the power of theatre and our mission. Children's Theatre of Charlotte is a national leader among theatres by placing equal emphasis on innovative educational initiatives for preschool, elementary, middle, and high school students. Our summer camp is part of this theatre education experience.

Before Applying, Please Consider...

  • You must secure and provide your own housing in Charlotte.
  • You must be able to provide your own transportation to and from the theatre and/or the summer satellite locations.
  • You will be granted time off only for personal emergencies (illness, death in the family, etc.).
  • You must be available to commit to the timeline listed below and available to work 40 hours per week.

Camp Counselors will supervise campers aged 3-11, with occasional oversight of ages 12-18. Responsibilities include classroom assistance, managing drop-off/pick-up, snack time, post-care, and administrative tasks. Counselors may also have opportunities to observe and collaborate with our professional Teaching Artists. The role reports to the Education Operations and Administrative Manager and works closely with the Education Department.

As a member of our Summer Camp Team, you will gain the following:

  • Acquire practical experience managing summer camp operations in a large professional theatre company, supporting programs that engage thousands of children and teens annually.
  • Gain insights into classroom management, structure, and diverse teaching methods by observing and assisting professional teaching artists. Develop skills to adapt theatre instruction for different age groups and tailor curriculum to meet varying student needs.
  • Engage students in theatre games and lessons during downtime and aftercare, providing an opportunity to apply and refine your teaching skills in a hands-on environment..
  • Receive training in fostering inclusive classrooms and effectively supporting students with special needs, those on the spectrum, or requiring trauma-informed care.
  • Work in a professional theatre environment with one-on-one and group access to Children's Theatre of Charlotte arts leadership.
  • Be in the room where it happens! You will have access to new play development workshops and readings that occur each summer at Children's Theatre of Charlotte.

Please apply if...

  • You are a positive, proactive, enthusiastic, and energetic undergraduate student who is driven to help a child build confidence and develop life skills through theatre skills.
  • You appreciate and thrive when collaborating with other team members and value the feeling of commitment and accomplishment.
