Job Description

NECC is a global leader in autism education and research. We provide a comprehensive structure to help children and young adults with autism through evidence-based services in home-based, day, and residential programs, in unison with ongoing research on educational best practices.

Autism Teachers provide direct care and ABA instruction to students in a classroom and/or residential setting. They collaborate with a team of professionals to instruct students in general curriculum areas including communication, social skills, activities of daily living (i.e. personal hygiene), vocational skills, adaptive physical education, and self-preservation. Autism teachers assist with educational program design, Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) development, and have regular communication with parents and guardians. They are also trained to deescalate challenging behaviors and to maintain the well-being of our students. Our goal is to improve our students' overall quality of life by working with them to reduce the frequency of problematic behaviors and providing them with the skills needed to promote independence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or currently enrolled in a degree program 
  • Experience working with children and young adults with autism is highly desired
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willingness to work with students who engage in challenging behaviors
  • CPR training completion through NECC within 6 months of employment
  • Medicine Administration training
  • Successful completion of NECC training program i.e. Physical and Verbal De-escalation training (CALM) training
