Position Description
The IPV Prevention Graduate Assistant supports campus-wide prevention, education, and outreach initiatives focused on sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking. This role promotes healthy relationships and sexual well-being among undergraduate students through programming, training, and collaborative engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the Green Dot training calendar, including scheduling, room reservations, catering, promotion, and communication with participants and campus partners
- Promote the Green Dot Strategy through planning interactive events, conducting outreach through tabling, and developing newsletter and promotional content
- Facilitate health education workshops on topics such as healthy relationships, interpersonal violence, and sexual health for undergraduate students (evening facilitation required)
- Assist with the planning and implementation of large-scale awareness events, including Green Dot Week, Relationship Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Take Back the Night
- Provide general programmatic support to the Center for Wellness Promotion (e.g., staffing outreach events, creating bulletin boards, maintaining inventory, and facilitating workshops on health and well-being topics)
- Build and maintain partnerships with campus departments and student organizations to expand outreach and engagement
- Develop educational materials and content to support prevention and health promotion efforts

- Develop skills in program planning, workshop facilitation, outreach and engagement, and campus partnership development.
- Additional learning includes applying evidence-based prevention strategies, assessing program impact, and creating educational materials for diverse student populations.
- Attend professional development opportunities
- Ongoing supervision and feedback to support professional growth in student affairs and public health fields.
Expectations
- Adhere to all departmental and University policies and procedures
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with SPSS (or other statistical software) preferred; along with interest
and experience with data analysis - Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (including delivery of small group
presentations and workshops) - Very strong written communication skills (including email, written documents, reports, etc.)
- Maintain office hours and work schedule reflective of departmental needs (including some evenings and weekend hours when needed)
- Ability to work independently and autonomously as appropriate to the task
- Creativity, initiative-taking and flexibility
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with an openness to learning
- Ability and willingness to give and receive constructive feedback
- Fulfill the duties outlined in the position job description, and meet reasonable
verbal and written expectations given by the supervisor and CWP staff - Refrain from working on other responsibilities (homework, personal e-mail, other jobs you may have) during work hours
Graduate Assistantship Qualifications
Must be a full-time graduate student enrolled at UNC Charlotte in good academic standing. Students in any degree program will be considered, though students studying (or with significant experience in) public health, social work, counseling psychology, or other human service fields may be better qualified.
First year graduate students who are open to a 2 year graduate assistantship are preferred (with a second year appointment contingent upon satisfactory performance).Professional Development Outcomes/Career Competencies
