How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
The Operations Data Strategy & Enablement (ODSE) team is seeking highly motivated and curious individuals who are excited to leverage data to improve the operations.
ODSE enables the Operations Analytics organization by providing a unified, modern data foundation that improves data quality, accelerates insights, and empowers faster, smarter decision-making across the business.
The Co-Op will work closely with analytics professionals in the operation supporting one of the following functions or departments:
• Integrated Operations Planning (IOP) - Optimizing aircraft schedule and resource availability to maintain peak on-time performance

OperationsDigital & Decision Science (ODDS) - Developing decision science toolsand digital product solutions

CorporateSafety, Security & Compliance (CSSC) - Supporting the safety andsecurity of the airline and its employees

AirportCustomer Service (ACS) - Improving airport processes and managingperformance
-
Crew -Improving Pilot and Flight Attendant operations and performance efficiency
-
DeltaConnection (DC) - Supporting end to end analytics and cross-divisionaloperational initiatives and improvements for the operation of Delta'sregional airlines

FlightOperations (FOP) - Managing aircraft and gate to gate operations andperformance
-
OnboardServices (OBS) - Optimizing process, supply, and inventory of inflightproducts and services
-
In-FlightServices (IFS) - Enhancing customer onboard experience and cateringoperations and performance
-
Operations& Customer Center (OCC) -Ttracking on-time flight metrics, weather,day-of flight analyses

Central- Managing centralized operations and competitive performance analyses
Though individual responsibilities will vary by supporting division, some functional examples include:

Analyticsengineering - build data pipelines & re-usable patterns (ETL/ELT) thattransform raw sources into curated, analysis-ready datasets

Datamodeling - curate an operations-oriented ontology to build a scalablesemantic layer
-
Datagovernance - steward good data management processes & standards(documentation, quality, access control, lineage, catalog)
-
Datawrangling - research, analyze, and interpret operational data to solvecomplex business problems
-
Technicaldata product management - drive "product" mindset for buildingscalable data solutions that provide business value

Automatedreporting - develop frameworks that enable faster reports & dashboardsfor insights generation

Dataplatform testing - pilot and test out new data platform and tools that maybenefit the operations analytics organization

Dataoptimization - identify opportunities to enhance operational metrics &processes
Students are required to complete threealternating semesters of work and school; all rotations must be completed before the student's graduation. Note: Students are notpermitted to work part-time hours and should refrain from taking classes andworking as a co-op in the same semester. The full-time work schedule for this role, while remaining actively enrolled in an approved undergraduate curriculum, is as follows:

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
-
Enrolled in an Undergraduate program in pursuitof a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Economics, IndustrialEngineering, Information Systems, or similar 4-year degree program

Available for three alternating semesters forfull-time work
-
Ability to report in-person to Delta's WorldHeadquarters (Atlanta, GA) or willing to relocate each semester (housingstipends will be provided to students who meet the minimum criteria)

Team oriented and highly supportive ofcontinuous improvement methodologies
-
Basic understanding of data management &enablement functions: ETL/ELT pipelines, relational database fundamentals,modeling concepts, etc.

Proficiency with Python, SAS or other similartools and programming languages
-
Proficiency in SQL and ETL/ELT patterns
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and dataanalysis tools and concepts
-
Strong organizational, project management, andverbal/written communication skills are essential

Willingness/ability to adapt quickly and learnnew skills is required
-
Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
