Position Description

  • Responsible for providing technical, operational, and administrative support to selected right of way vegetation maintenance programs associated with contract services and high voltage transmission lines.



Essential Job Tasks:

  • Provides logistical and administrative support for vegetative maintenance activities that utilize contract service resources.
  • Responsible for assisting with contract crews performing tree pruning, herbicide application or other vegetation maintenance operations on transmission rights of way.
  • Performs field inspections to ensure adequate clearances between vegetation and conductors is being maintained and contractors are working within contract specifications.
  • Monitors/audits contractor(s) performance based on quality, production, and work/contract specifications adherence.
  • Reports deficiencies to supervision and makes recommendations to mitigate any found issues.
  • Ensures daily/weekly progress reports are completed and signed by the appropriate personnel.
  • Reconciles accuracy of reports through field inspections and acknowledge with a signature that work was completed per work specifications and enters progress reports into an electronic corporate repository (ECM).
  • Utilizes GIS mapping software and spreadsheets to monitor maintenance related work activities. Inspect and prioritize reported vegetation issues based on their impact to safety and system reliability.
  • Provides input when developing annual maintenance schedules.Inspect transmission rights of way vegetation and ground conditions for atypical growth situations and/or special maintenance requests.
  • Recommends the most effective vegetation maintenance practice necessary to complete the work.
  • Reviews transmission easements and other applicable documents through GIS to determine right of way boundaries and any access and/or maintenance restrictions.
  • Interacts with property owners as required by documentation or as needed.
  • Responds to property owner issues and provides a detailed assessment to supervision.
  • Works with other departments to help facilitate special vegetation maintenance activities/projects using available manpower and equipment.

Forester II

  • Bachelor's Degree in Forestry + 2 years of Forestry Land Management experience.
  • Must acquire a South Carolina Pesticide Applicators License (Categories 5 & 6) within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Must be registered with the State Board of Registration for Foresters within 18 months of hire.
  • Vegetation management experience utilizing herbicides on electrical rights-of-way is preferred.



Compensation Information:
$58,110 - $72,630 (min. - mid.)

Forester III

  • Bachelor's Degree in Forestry + 5 years of Forestry Land Management experience.
  • Must have a South Carolina Pesticide Applicators License (Category 5 & 6).
  • Must be registered with the State Board of Registration for Foresters.
  • Vegetation management experience utilizing herbicides on electrical rights-of-way is preferred.



Compensation Information:
$65,080 - $81,350 (min. - mid.)

Forester I

  • Bachelor's Degree in Forestry.
  • Must acquire a South Carolina Pesticide Applicators License (Categories 5 & 6) within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Must be registered with the State Board of Registration for Foresters within 18 months of hire.



Compensation Information:
$52,340 - $65,420 (min. - mid.)
