Job Title: Community Internship - Reporter
Location: Charlotte, NC (Remote & In-Person Options)

Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and passionate reporting intern to join our team. This part-time internship offers an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in journalism and learn how a newsroom functions. As a reporting intern, you will be responsible for writing 1 to 2 stories per week, covering topics ranging from community events to local news and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and publish 1 to 2 stories per week for QCity Metro
- Learn how to conduct research and interviews to support your reporting
- Collaborate with the editorial team to refine story ideas
- Attend weekly meetings and editorial check-ins (remote options available)
- Receive mentorship and feedback from the editor and seasoned reporters
- Learn the basics of reporting, fact-checking, and digital content production
- Contribute to various aspects of the newsroom workflow, including our daily newsletter
Qualifications:
- Current student (preferred majors: Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field)
- Strong writing skills and a passion for storytelling
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines (after feedback & mentorship is provided)
- Interest in local news and the Charlotte community
- Willingness to learn and take feedback constructively
